This app is proximity driven. The familiar pulsing dot both aligns you with the path and also displays notification by opening a dialog box when you are centered over a point of interest. You can go to Settings to add an audible notice of your position even when your device is off.

Even though one end is labeled start and the other end, you can start anywhere along the track.

While walking down the path with the app on is very engaging and activates the historic adventure part, there is a lot to see and learn just sitting in your living room chair. Walking down the path automatically sets off the proximity functions. At home you can activate these functions by simply pressing the pins with your finger.

An Historical Adventure

This walking app enables you to have an historical adventure while staying in New York City. Just come on up and explore this veritably untouched, yet feature rich historic zone near the popular High Bridge.
Coogan’s Bluff, the eastern escarpment of Washington Heights, is where there is a trove of stone artifacts left over from the construction of the Croton Aqueduct one hundred and sixty six years ago. This app explains and shows you how to explore a remote section of Manhattan on your own.
The map guides you along the aqueduct path, there is written information about each site, photos of several of the items and original drawings that place the aqueduct in situ within this stone precipice.

NOTE: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
